We Humans of Planet Earth

maximios July 20, 2012 Uncategorized

We humans of planet Earth live at a tiny fraction of our individual spiritual potential. All the world’s scriptures say in some way or another that we were made in the “image of God.” Even the Bible says we are “gods” in formation. (John 10:34) We all have an “original face” through which we can evolve back to our Source transformed by the experiences of incarnation.

The journey home is a long one and can be likened to a song played on the seven-tone musical scale—from “Do” on the most rudimentary level of creation to “Do” an octave above, where we realize our oneness with the Creator, partaking beyond words or imagining in the Creator’s glory.

Our realization grows through our own efforts, based on daily spiritual practice in prayer, remembrance, and meditation. It can grow, above all, as we experience consciously our being-ness and all this includes.

In this awareness of simplicity, non-duality, and existential nakedness, the vibrations from the Divine infinite can reach and uplift us. Everything then changes, even the body within which our soul resides.

We must understand some principles. The first principle is that we were created to evolve, but this is different from the mechanical, unconscious evolution postulated by modernity, an evolution which does not and never has existed.

Evolution can only take place consciously, even the collective evolution brought about by a planet which is producing successive stages of mineral, plant, animal, then human life. In order to enrich the experience of incarnation, our Galaxy, the Milky Way, was created, along with billions of others, and appears to function through engendering free will in the self-aware beings which come to inhabit it.

Because evolution takes place in consciousness, with outward physical life only a reflection of inner development, the mind of human beings had to be divided between the conscious and the subconscious. As the term implies, people, as they grow and come to maturity, are largely unaware of the subconscious. Thus free will means, of necessity, that we are spiritually asleep.

This is because free will implies the ability to choose, specifically to choose awakening in consciousness. Free will also means polarity, because all choice is an either-or. The choice throughout the universe is always between service-to-others and service-to-self. These are the positive and negative paths of conscious development.

Again, in accordance with fundamental cosmic law, evolution, as stated above, proceeds according to octaves. The octave of evolution contains seven densities, plus an eighth which is the culmination of all that went before.

According to revelations coming only within the last several decades, mankind on Earth is now poised between third and fourth density, which corresponds to the gap in the octave reflected in the half-tone between Mi and Fa in the musical scale.  This is the most difficult step to bridge in the entire evolutionary cycle. A unique, once-and-for-all striving is required, along with outside help.

However, it is quite possible to postpone the choice. The vast majority of people on Earth are drifting in sleep from one life to the next. As a result, they are required to repeat the life they have been leading through recurrence in another body.

But because planet Earth itself is evolving to fourth density at the deepest vibratory level, third density beings will have to reincarnate elsewhere—that is, to other planets—in order to continue their journey. Third-density beings cannot live within a higher vibration, just as fish cannot breathe air. So individuals who have been reincarnating on Earth for aeons must now find a new planetary home.

This divergence is symbolized in Biblical teaching by Jesus’s parable of the sheep and the goats. The sheep and the goats are now separating, the consequence of their own choice. The sheep are becoming more conscious: that is, more aware of the subconscious; the goats are becoming less.

The less one is aware of the subconscious the more one projects one’s own “shadow” onto the “other.” One hates and fears, projecting these emotions onto an enemy: terrorists, followers of another religion, speakers of other languages, other races, one’s political opponents, or even the poor.

The spectacle of American religious fundamentalists egging on the nation’s imperialistic militaristic aggression is an example of such blindness. The devil within creates the devil without.

People are filled with violence and aggression which they project onto adversaries they don’t even see. They are blindly following leaders of the service-to-self polarity, also known as “the path of that which is not.” The objective of these leaders is to reduce the mass of humanity to slaves ruled by an elite.

This situation too is coming to its earthly end. Everyone who stubbornly clings to projecting onto others his own shortcomings has failed the course and will have to repeat it, though at a school in another neighborhood.

Again, densities may be likened to the notes of an octave. The first density was that of mineral life and lasted billions of years. The second density was plant and animal life and also lasted billions of years. Third density, that of self-aware humans, has lasted only a few million years. Those who are poised to transition to fourth density after a relatively brief third-density reincarnative existence, are said to be ready for fourth-density “harvest.” It is the great dividing line.

That is what is going on right now on planet Earth, though past irregularities have made the situation more complex than on other planets within the Galaxy, including the planet Venus in our own solar system, which is much further along this journey than Earth.

To carry on our search we must separate ourselves in consciousness from the life of the sleepwalking masses around us. Due to their unawareness of the subconscious, they are controlled by their perishable physical bodies, which means that in practice they are held in thrall to the controlling institutions in the physical realm—governments, corporations, schools, universities, and religious organizations, all with their phalanxes of lawyers, PhDs, clergy, and financial managers—that constantly are telling us who we are, what we need, and what our limitations are.

Within these institutions there may yet be individuals living by conscience, though every day it is becoming harder for them to avoid suffocation. To be one’s own person is an act of courage, even heroism.

Even then, one may well find one’s personal ethics challenged by crimes in high places. It may be necessary then to make some stark choices with lifelong repercussions or even to face martyrdom.

Indeed, these institutions all stand ready to punch our tickets and grant us permission to live—for a price. It was not always so, but it is certainly so today. Goethe saw it coming when he wrote Faust in the early 19th century, just as Mary Shelley described her nightmare of modernity in Frankenstein, first published in 1818.

Faust was the intellectual who sold his soul to the devil for knowledge and power. Frankenstein was the imitation man pieced together by a scientism drunk on its own self-esteem.

Even if we have to work for institutions, comply with their rules, or depend on them for physical sustenance, we can yet strive to be inwardly free. For their ways and assumptions are false. None of the authorities seek, know, or transmit the Truth, unless they themselves are on a path toward awakening, and that is rare.

For Truth can only be known by our own awakened consciousness. How to awaken in consciousness is the most important question we will ever face.  Awakening means first and foremost becoming aware of a) our primal being-ness; and b) our subconscious, containing all qualities and possibilities, both “good” and “bad.”

What holds us back from awakening is that we don’t realize how asleep we are—really deeply and profoundly asleep. So much so that we have to keep coming back, one lifetime after another, repeating the same actions, going through the same sufferings, meeting the same people, all asleep like us.

Isn’t it time to change all that? Isn’t it time to seek mastery over our own destiny? Isn’t it time to awaken in consciousness so as to move to the next level of being, one where joy and fulfillment may be found rather than futility and frustration?

For awakening means, first and foremost, discovering the spiritual heart, wherein the soul resides. This is the heart of conscious love.

A handful of spiritual people, the mystics of all ages, have always known that it is so, having discovered Truth, or God, through their own efforts and the help of beings from the angelic realms. Where do we look, then, to find the authentic teachings and through them to discover our own truth of being?

Today there are hundreds of thousands of spiritual books and a myriad of people who claim to be able to help us find our way. Sorting through this plethora of sources is the work of a lifetime. But the only worthwhile endeavor is to find within the perennial teachings what really works for oneself, what meets one’s most urgent need of the moment. Even then the choice must be made: service-to-self or service-to-others. Another way to define it is Black vs. White Magic, each with its own procedures and consequences.

My own choice is service-to-others. This is whom I am writing for. So, if you are interested, let us step forth on the journey. It’s a trip that has no short cuts. It requires tremendous patience and the willingness to start over again and again. Let us reach toward our goal while there still may be time.

And lest we worry about the fate of our loved ones in the epochal changes in progress, we can also reflect that any progress we make, they will also share in somewhere on their journey. Our example may help them in the decision to awaken also.
